Case of the Mondays: Disappointed in Glee Edition
by Katie
I missed Glee last week because I was at Regina Spektor, but I watched it over the weekend, and I’m getting a little frustrated. This episode seriously lacked Coach Jane Sylvester and Will’s hysterically-pregnant nutcase wife, who are the most entertaining characters because they’re fit to be institutionalized. Then I found out that the actor who plays Arty isn’t actually disabled, when they could have probably cast an actually disabled person since he doesn’t actually have to dance or anything. The other characters that make this cast sooooo diverse are similarly 2-dimensional, which I’m willing to let slide for a few episodes, but how many times can we watch Kurt be flamboyant and theatrical and crap ourselves over how progressive the show is?
Then they totally rewarded Rachel’s bullshit “I’m a star and I’m going to wherever they’re most willing to massage my fucking ego” behavior by giving her the solo in their nauseatingly earnest performance of “Somebody to Love.” Then there were the 30-somethings, Will and April, who spent the whole hour trying to reclaim their glory days from 1991, and didn’t Will already deal with that when he started and disbanded Acafellas????
One thing I do love? Emma’s outfits. Possible Halloween costume??????
Anyway, sort yourself out, Glee. Here’s Freddie Mercury. Fun fact: Mikey hates the Beatles, and our mom hates Queen. And both of my parents hate Regina Spektor! Me? I’m a lover… unless we’re talking about Mondays.
