Case of the Mondays: Feist + Ben Gibbard, “Train Song”

After adoring a couple of songs from “Dark Was The Night,” I finally got around to listening to the whole album. Turns out, each song is better than the last. Currently, I’m obsessed with Feist and Ben Gibbard’s cover of “Train Song” which haunts my dreams. I don’t particularly care about Death Cab, but Ben Gibbard’s voice matches Feist’s so well. Then again, she’s also memorably dueted with Grizzly Bear, Wilco, and Muppets, so maybe she’s just the perfect duet singer.

Either way, when they get to, “It’s many hundred miles and it won’t be long,” I get chills every time.

The original is actually even more haunting, and sounds like it could have been included on the Donnie Darko soundtrack.
