Sorry, friends, I’ll be MIA until Friday as tomorrow is day 2 of my proofreading training at work. I think it should be given a more representative name, like “Word Wonks Noncommittally Debating Obscure, Sometimes Archaic, Grammar Traditions.” Who gives a fuck about an Oxford Comma? These guys. Most of them are a lot older than I am, so I’m not sure if I can make that joke.
I’ve debated putting lots of grammar-related videos up here to celebrate, and maybe I will when I don’t desperately need to sleep. In the meantime, have you heard of Tweenbots?
Not only are these the cutest robots EVER (sorry, WALL-E) and somebody’s wacky art project, but if you go watch the video on the web site, you will be treated to the cutesiest baby’s-nursery-music ever written (sorry, Rugrats theme song). (Ed note–There goes the last of my Internet persona’s dignity.) I watched the entire video hoping to witness this:
Often, people would ignore the instructions to aim the Tweenbot in the “right” direction, if that direction meant sending the robot into a perilous situation. One man turned the robot back in the direction from which it had just come, saying out loud to the Tweenbot, “You can’t go that way, it’s toward the road.”
In my head, of course, it’s some young guy in a suit shouting after the Tweenbot, which may be why I find it so hilarious.
Until next time, friends!
