Rulers of Everything: Tally Hall at DC9
by Katie

Tally Hall makes me happy. I’ll admit that I don’t know their entire catalogue, and don’t own their first album (shame shame shame!) but here goes.
Tally Hall brought out a surprisingly fratty crowd of dudes, which may or may not be correlated to the members’ cheery every-guy demeanors and the fact that they do a pretty hilarious cover of “Just a Friend.” Though their new songs sound more like Weezer than will.i.am, they still perform the silliest songs from “Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum” with flair and, um, a bullhorn.
The band has a rapport, and inside jokes, with fans that kind of confuse outsiders like me. But not many bands connect with an entire room as well as these guys, and because of this relationship, TH were able to fill almost half the set with new songs. They thanked the crowd for listening, and promised to record them this summer.
I let too much time pass to write a really long and detailed review, but suffice to say that this show was a lot of fun. The performance was energetic, they seem like very nice guys, and blah blah really fun. Really. Fun.
