Spencer Breslin has a Band

February 24, 2009

by Michael

So a couple days ago I was walking on Astor Place when I thought I saw Spencer Breslin, a few things threw me though 1) He was not fat, 2) he was not super cute and 3) he was carrying a guitar.  After not caring for a few days, I figured “hey, I write a music blog, and he might play music” so I checked it out, and he totally has a little high schooler band.  SO CUTE (not really)

They are either called “The Red Agenda” or “The Dregs” or “The Rockers,” but it doesn’t matter because they’re not very good.  They seem to have a little bit of potential, but I don’t see them going anywhere.   At the same time though, my own high school band only had a very small fan base, and the most popular band from my school while I was there were the crap fest known as Hiccup Hellen.

Clearly, the issue instead rests on the fact that high schoolers have terrible taste in music, and this kinda ok band is pandering to the masses.  Rise up instead Spencer Breslin, and embrace your possibly ok rock roots.

UPDATE:  So according to Nils Otis (either a pseudonym or unfortunate name) Spencer Breslin left The Red Agenda and is doing solo work that does not suck.  I must say, this stuff sounds a lot more like Short and Bolton with production value, so maybe he should get in contact with Alex and I and we can jam a couple bars.

Spencer Breslin’s band is not the worst thing I’ve listened to in the last 4 days. Have you heard the Vivian Girls? Don’t bother. I’ll take them to task in my M Ward review.

    Hey,

I am friends with Spencer. His band the Red Agenda sucked and hasn’t been active since June, because Spencer couldn’t stand the direction the band was going in. He has since started work on a solo music career, working on a new record produced by, James William Hindle, with support from members of: Love Is All, Vetiver, Crystal Stilts, Still Flyin’ and the Ladybug Transistor. He has a myspace for this project. Myspace.com/Spencerbreslinmusic.

which is why I offered to jam with him.

I can’t help that searching “random guy holding a guitar’s band” yields less solid results than “kid from The Kid’s band”

I meant that they weren’t the worst thing I’d listened to in a good way! It just so happens that I also listened to some really awful things recently. Spencer’s stuff is not bad especially considering… how old is he, like 16?

I’m pretty amused by the number of people who’ve found us by googling “Spencer Breslin music” though. Suddenly Mikey is relevant and I’m useless!

    Suddenly Mikey is relevant

    May God help us all.

No ragging on Spencer Breslin or anyone in the Breslin family. I wish they were my siblings. Though I would argue that his production values aren’t that great. Or he just needs a better microphone or something like that.
